Hi lads, wondering what everyones plans are for 2008 after the 2007 wash out.
It's been a pretty dismal year for me on the Carp front with a 12month blank. Mostly my own fault by not getting out enough with starting up the bait business and spending more hours in front of the PC and on the phone than doing anything else. At the time of writing this my stats' show me as spending just over 5 weeks on this site alone. Tactics wise this year I said I didn't want to fish any of the easier waters with smaller fish (I wanted a 30 this year) so all of my sessions have been on the harder waters. To top it all off the crappy weather all year wrecked most of the easier waters too and on every session I guaranteed I would get wet through in piss down rain
Pike wise hasn't been too bad on any of the trips to the bank with no blanks but none of the bigger fish taking the bait either. But still there's a long time to go on the winter pikeing front.
So Mission 2008..................
Fish whenever and wherever I can and no long stay fishing that is the only goal I have. I'm going to be fishing a couple of invites to some nice waters but apart from that i'm going to be just doing overnighters through the height of the summer (if we get one this year) and the rest of the time just fishing dawn till dusk. I'll also be scaling my tackle down to suite shorter sessions and do more "one rodding" outings for a few hours stalking after tea on my local waters. I suppose this year I cant say bait will be a limiting factor either

This year I will be mostly rekindling my love for course fishing in general. I have spent too long now preoccupied with the lure and fly-which I will still do as i love it!
Time permitting I am hoping to get some good yorkshire river pike and also some more time fly fishing for them.
catch more bass and buy a canoe to help me in this quest (bass are in my opinion are the best sportfish we have-go and catch one and you will see-AND RETURN IT!) and hopefully catch a few on the fly too.
i aim to go back to basics too and do some all rounder stuff on the rivers and oppurtunist species fishing whilst there. i.e. go for what ever is there and conditions dictate or whatever i see. Also same stuff on still waters-remember those dawn waggler fishing sessions? looking forward to a bit of that for old times sake!
carp (my hypocrisy knows no bounds, although my problen lies with sheepheadedbraindeaded realtree cladded-no offence WKD!- divvy carp "anglers" and not the fish! BTW not a swipe at all carp anglers but you knoW the type i mean-all the gear and no idea etc etc) where was i......oh yes! a bit canal carping by me, plenty of em and not fished for, this will be going back in time for me as it used to be the only place i fished for them and short sessions can be blinding with the right prep work with numbers of good sized uncaught fish and home for lunch.
But my first love will always predators so pike, perch, chub will be high on the agenda with at least one zander and one cat trip thrown in.
ALSO
I am planning a trip piking with my old feller to Eire in april time and there is the little matter of Cuba in Oct for me wedding and all, but f*** the nuptuals i aint coming back until a tarpon graces my line!!!
SO i would say my big plans are still the tarpon and a big river pike and to forget about numbers and enjoy me time out!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

I can't concentrate long enough to read your threads!!!!!
As for me I also need to get out on the bank more as I have neglected it far too much this year.
Short term aiming for a 3lb plus perch before the season ends.
Long term: whatever I fancy.
Seasons greetings _________________ damo

OH!!!!!!!
now that's like calling Marc a "big bottom stroking man whore". That's a big gauntlet to throw down Mart and Marc may find it offensive to call it a laugh.................In fact it's a gauntlet thrown down combined with a glove slapping across the face. Expect the predator master to issue a spanking and a lure draw at dawn _________________ I can see NSA staff getting a bitch slapping from the boss for pissing about with my signature!

Personally I think Marcs to big to take livebaiting for perch. You'll need one hell of a float. _________________ damo

Well up for that, you know I am very much pro-livebaiting and wish nothing but piles or herpes on anyone who tries to ban it!
I just haven`t been arsed now for too long and have got used to not doing it!
and yes, that would be one f*** off Perch to snaffle all 18st of me, nevermind the float!!
Appreciate the kind words boys......................

I`m aiming for a trip for these this yr, combined with a bass trip.
a couple of places i know on the llyn, i have seen them there. One time off the beach, a huge shoal of them and some of them were BIG fish too! I thought they were bass and hoying lures into `em- they just looked at `em and laughed!!
they are supposed to go like stink too
