Ebay, loath it or love it I have a had a bit of good fortune this week.
Just recieved a Drennan Specialist 12' 1.25lb bought for 65 quid. Looks absolutely mint so I know have three of these beauties for the forthcoming bream & roach campaign.
But then I needed another reel to go with it and recieved today a 5010 baitrunner for 30 quid. It didn't sell well 'cos it was advertised a faulty as the previous owner couldn't get the spool off. 10 seconds with pliers and the problem fixed. Great reel for a snip.
Just need to find those pesky bream know. _________________ damo

Next on my shopping list is a nice pair of twin tip avons with the traditional 1.25lb TC
Quivertip top for planned river chub, perch etc and other for stillwater sessions on the tench, perch etc.
I have a pair of ancient Abu C5`s which I love that are waiting to sit on them!
Thinking of the Wilson Avon Quiver as it is so versitile being 11/13ft and cheap, however masterline rods used to have a rep for breaking does anyone know if that is still the case?
Or any other recommendations?

I have a Masterline avon/quiver system rod with the 1.25lb avon top a three push in quiver top. Brought it for chubbing on the Teme a few year ago and caught barbel into double figures on it.
Have used the avon top for carping on the float as the rod has a lovely through action.
Only thing I can fault it on is that the action doesn't allow chucking out a long way and the avon top is 11ft and not 12ft. It feels a little awkward with the 2 ft extension piece.
Drennan do a avon system. Haven't seen one in the flesh but I love Drennan rods. _________________ damo

Had a look at those online last night, look the nuts!
must admit, I like 11footers and I have a pair of 12ft 1.75lb TC if the long chucks/heavy feeders etc are needed.
Need to think about cost too as they are really gonna eat into my lure funds!!

the hyperloops come in 2 and 3 tips. Go for the heavy feeder option at 1.75lb TC with carbon tips. Should set you back no more than £35 quid if you shop around. Full cork handles and Fuji reel seat. You cant go wrong. 13' with tip attached and i've been barbel bashing as well as using some great big method feeders (twice the size of a tennis ball) on mine. With a gentle lob i've cast probably well over 3 times the advised max casting weight with no problems to around 30 yards. This would cover most rivers around us.
If anything it's a bit of a soft rod with a semi-through action all of the bend comes from the top section with it bending scarily back towards it's own put-over when using heavy method feeder loads. No sign of wear and tear yet though after 2 years of abuse and as written above it has been tested beyond its limits.
Can't go far wrong with this one. _________________ I can see NSA staff getting a bitch slapping from the boss for pissing about with my signature!

There is loads of choice these days and with the likes of tackle giant Shimano knocking out really decent gear for less than 50 quid how things have changed. _________________ damo
