I know one or two of you out there already do this.
I was having a look at a couple of sites suggested on another thread and the stuff does look good. The variety of soft baits and jig heads is mindbogling and the prices are really tempting.
Whats your experiences of ordering from the States? Who do you recommend and what size orders ($$) makes the P&P worth it? _________________ damo

I`ve had a few orders lately from Cabelas, one of them I`m still waiting for and its been nigh on 2 months! but I`ve since placed an order and paid extra for the airmail option and had it within two weeks.
In my opinion its best to pay for the extra carriage because its garanteed to get to you and you can track it, so i could see where it was with UPS e.g it went through several US states and two UK airports before it got to me!
The downside is the cost of it and you usually have to pay VAT (import tax) too as the order is tracked, they call you and you pay over the phone. This does not usually happen if you opt for the over land option USUALLY, though officially import taxes have to paid on any orders from the US.
So, if you`re not in a hurry go for that, but either way with the strong exchange rates you`re getting gear for nuts really! That said, I will pay the extra in future to make sure i get the stuff- I think its worth it.
Obviously the more you spend, the more you save. Lures, Braids, reels and terminal tackle are all dirt cheap and really good quality too, and if you can get mates to share an order with you you`re laughing!
However, I better not join in as with the weather being shite I`ve been chearing myself up buying tons of lures and other lovely goodies (also stocking up going to Ireland) so I think I`d end up on the street!
Let me know how you get on, but me, my old feller and plenty of our mates have used Cabelas for well over ten years now without any probs, so I wouldn`t worry about it.
Other friends have accounts with Basspro too and hear good things about them.

$167!
I`ll get it back straight away after they`ve made the checks though!
This has happened before a couple of times from UK shops and I`ve got my money back and then goods turn up a week after!
Which I returned straight away of course

UPDATE!
Goods still not here so I got onto Cabelas and they have a very cool live chat facility with their customer services, so Mitzi D was on the other end and checked everything for me and then got it all re-sent straight away and I`ve paid an extra $27 for airmail this time so should be here before April.
Lets see

Phone call today from customs, £14.24 duty paid over the phone and they`re gonna be with me tomorrow!
That is 4days by my reckoning-not bad even for a UK supplier!
That confirms my point about shelling out a bit more for your goodies!!
***Update goods landed on friday, all good! superb new spinning reel similar to diawa TDR but about £100 cheaper!**
