Can anyone tell me a simple rig for carp fishing, I don't want anything complicated. I have only been carp fishing twice first time I blanked the second time I got one. Also can you recommend what swivels, hooks and line I should use for the rig and anything else I might need.

Cheers Finny.

hi finny, just stick to a simple knotless not rig to start with.
the hooklink depends were you are fishing ie the bottom as for the hooks,
i like the korder hooks and ashima very good.
try some kryston mantis or snakeskin for your hooklink.

I normally just use a size 8 fox swivel that way if you are using a safety lead clip it fits most manufacturers clips. I'd agree with Mark 100% on the Kryston gear just pick one to match the bottom. Super Mantis, Snakebite and Snakeskin are all good options with stripable outers to make stiff, combi or reverse combi rigs. Hooks wise I use either Korda, Rigmarole (cheaper and similar paterns to Korda) or Fox.

If I can dig out some images later I'll post up a few end rig diagrams.

Giles.

I pretty much agree with what the posters above have said. Keep things simple to start with. More complicated rigs are only necessary if the carp have got riggy due to pressure.

I use Kryston Mantis quite a bit to create combi rigs, but I catch a hell of a lot of carp on plain old mono hooklinks which a lot of people seem to overlook these days.

Hookwise I use ESP or Korda hooks mostly, but when surface fishing I often use smaller hooks and Drennan Super Specialist are ideal.

I often use semi-fixed rigs using Korda leadclips with size 8 Korda swivels, but I often start with a running rig on one rod to see if it makes a difference. Some days all my runs come to running rigs, whereas on another day it's the other way round.

hi finny

if you get a chance its worth watching the korda under water series, good info on rigs and how carp react to diff rigs ect with really good under water footage especialy tiny perch seing off big carp on a patch of feed intersting stuff.

stick with the simple knotless knot, like the pics above. fox,esp or gardener long shank hooks are always a good start.
you can`t go wrong with a florocarbon hooklink, especialy in clear waters. alot of anglers don`t use this anymore due to the amount of braids out now. i mainly use koda IQ and berkley vanish floro hooklinks.
kryston mantis is a top braid, stripped or un-stripped. :)

i've been using the korda IQ all season, usually in 10 or 12lb and i use the 25lb for all my stiff rigs
