Hello
I have just been told about this place by a new friend.....cheers Marc!
I live in Leeds, West Yorkshire and am involved in all kinds of fishing as often as I can. Three years ago on my first carping session I caught a 18 1/2lb common at Welham Fihseries. It was my first ever carp and was the reason for me starting carp fishing. I fish at a private pond in north Leeds where there are some carp up to 30lb but I've never caught one.
I will soon be kayak fishing if my plans come together and hope to try lakes, canals, rivers and the sea.
I just wanted to say hello.......I'm going to have a look around now.
Cheers, Ken

Thanks for the welcome guys!
I am no expert......just enjoy the great escape! Plus when I don't catch I never blame myself. The water was not warm enough yet, it was too cloudy/bright, they were spawning or eastern Europeans have eaten them all! You get the idea. It is one of the few sports where failure can always be blamed on anything but my own ineptitude. I love it!
It is for this very reason I will not be getting a fishfinder fitted to my kayak. Imagine how frustrating it would be knowing you are sitting above a huge shoal and not catching ‘em.
Cheers, Ken

I don't get it! Of 170 members well over half of them haven't made a single post. Don't you lads generally tell anyone about the place.
Regards, Ken

Thats just it we try! I`ve cynically said before that when the lads offer free bait for field-testers, guess what? loads of postings/new members.
Personally I think the site is brilliant for me, made three firm friends (well, 2 and WKD!) and new fishing buddies, got some good info from others and the regular contributors all have a laugh and swap info, it all good!
But you can only p*ss with the c@ck you`ve got and as frustrating as it is for us who believe in it and get the benefits to see all these "members" who do not contribute, it just the way it is.
Shame really as the format is very broad not just one county and not just another crap fishing forum.
could be worse, could be full of sausage brained morons who have nothing to say but make 2000+ postings saying it. (that`ll be YF then!)
It will take off with our shameless publicity plan kicks in, we have put all our faith in Damo to catch a beasty and then we`re away!
that and NSA branded merch for the bankside (and soon kayak meets!)
Keep the faith brother Ken!

So, damo is the secret weapon!
It does look a good site and I was surprised that it is not used more. I have already learned a lot after a quick look around. I hope that I am able to contribute in the future. Anyway..........about these freebies! Sorry, I couldn't help myself. It is good to be here.
Cheers, Ken

Secret weopon!!! I've been called a tool many times but never a weopon.
My secret for catching is simple Ken. Maggots and small hooks and just play the numbers game. Eventually something big will turn up. According to my records only another 314 rod hours before the next one turns up. Problem is I only get about 16hrs a week in so I may be sometime. _________________ damo

......I lived in Newbiggin by-the-sea in the north east for some yaers as a kid. It was there that I fished in the sea and local rivers the Wansbeck. I still love sea fishing and go beachcasting when I get the chance. My family moved to Leeds when I was 14 and lived a couple of miles away from Roundhay park where I could be found every weekend with a couple of mates fishing for roach, perch and bream.
I have always fished but about three years ago was introduced to carp fishing by a friend. We fished at Welham fisheries, an overnight 24 hour session and I caught my first and biggest common to date of 18 1/2lb what a feeling. I had my name down for Pauls pond which is 10 minutes walk away from where I live in Cookridge. There are some huge carp in there as well as a load of big tench and some bream and perch.
It is pretty exclusive but I am allowed to take a guest along now and then. When it warms up a bit you will have to come over and give it a try. I am going to help out next week clearing some of the rhododendrons around the lake and get rid of some of the water lillies that are taking over. It is a great spot.
Regards, Ken

| Rhodies, I believe can turn land acidic and they are an alien species too (although only heard thru someone else who is usually right!) so in that respect they should be controlled. But they do make a water look pretty!!
