I used to do alot of craping on the L&L canal and always found it kind to me, if you knew where to look- canals are a much under-rated place to crap-fish (I worked on it for a few yrs too, which helped)
I liked to go down the night before and throw in bucket of hemp and corn (this was in`t olden days before pellets) and go down at dawn and bag up! best day was five doubles and couple close and was home for lunch.
I never got complicated, best baits were, pepperami, truncheon meat, boilies, kidney beans etc.
find em and you`ll have a blinder

really fill it in, don`t do anything sophisticated its unnecessary-you`ll wise em up far too soon, and you`ll have a beano pal!
L&L was allways my "runs water" and although never been a fan of the carp scene i used fish it alot and the fish are belters and in 5 yrs working on the canal I don`t think i saw anyone fishing for em proper. So pretty much untapped and catchable in the winter

One of the local stretches I Pike fish on has a group of wild Carp that have not seen the bank. Everytime I fish for Pike here I throw in the same bait in the same spot and after 3 years no one has caught one but they are always seen where I throw the bait. Also nobody fishes this spot for them. They are fantastic lookingfish too and only mid doubles at a guess.

I recon this coming winter when I start hammering it for the Pike i'll finally have to tear myself from the Pike rods and have a go for them big time.

as said in previous posts there unfished for, so simple rigs work a treat no need to get too complicated just yet! i just want to get them used to my bait as i've seen a few others down near the same stretch get payed soon so i'll buy a few kg of boilies and sort myself out sooner or later!
