May not be Barbel but at least you have broken your blanking spell. Two spot on (forgive the pun) specimens. Definitely going in the photo gallery those beauties. _________________ I can see NSA staff getting a bitch slapping from the boss for pissing about with my signature!

Hi had a great day on the river yesterday with a first cast strike chub at 4Ib battreies on the camrea died on me so no pic spent rest of the day in a hump..Later on my other half brough me down some more batts hope to catch another. As it got dark things started to get rather busy on missed bites and the temp dropped like a stone..On hearing splashing near a bush on the far side about 30 yards down river got to me so i picked up my rod landing net and halve a loaf of bread and made a move. Stairing into the darkness only just about seeing the outlined feature out ithere preasure casting or what. Filled the feeder with small bits of bread and baited up, first cast in and i lay my rod down on at an angle with my hand on the trigger. The tip flicked back then shot forward striking into a lump that soon after done me Hrrrrrrrr So i rehooked a bit of bread wondering if i had blown my chance casting back out the rod never even got put down as the tip roared round then as soon as it was on it was off.. I could have cryed but i baited up again not letting these sods get the better,,the rod lay down for what seemed like an eternity sat freezing my arse off and shackin with adrenalin I watch the tip bounce back then slam forward. the rod pulled forward and i was in to this beastie moving right down the river i moved down to the waters edge then all of a sudden i felt total resitance some how i found a snag my heart fell through my arse.. but i could still fill the fish kicking. So i come to realize that my feeder was only snagged and i could grate the line and hope it broke which it did. Without realizing i was up to my knees in water and sinking into the mud, but just finished of the little battle and banked a 6Ib chub this years best what a crazy half hour but prob the best fun ive ever had......

Couple of Chub last night and a little roach. Best Chub was 4.4, it was as cold as a frozen pizza. _________________ Tight lines to all Northern anglers.

Could all anglers keep there eyes open for hand lines Paul found one last week with 12 hooks baited with worms at CH-lE-sT. If everyone is vigilant and reports all incidents to the EA (as paul did ) we might nip this in the bud before our fisheries get raped of fish. _________________ Tight lines to all Northern anglers.

Just been for a walk down river, it is still over the park path and heavily coloured with lots of debris coming down. I thought about giving it a go this afternoon especially after lookiing at last weeks angling times, but my gut instinct still tells me the temperature is too cold and just to put the theory to the test i went on my usual weather site and typed in Christchurch (Avon, stour) temp = 10, London (Thames) temp = 12, Birmingham (Trent) temp = 9. And then Ch - Le - St (Wear) temp = 5 these are current temperatures. Well the people who know me know my theory that up here we just do not get the stable temperatures that they get further south I think this is a good example. Before people start banging on I know it is hardly scientific but I am convinced there is a link plus the density of fish being much greater down south this puts us in a much harder position. Please Martin Bowler come up here and do what you did in last weeks angling times as I would love to be proved wrong but I am convinced it would not happen !!!!!!!!!! _________________ Tight lines to all Northern anglers.
